‘One must evolve or evaporate’. Painting in a series forces me to re-engage and refocus myself. I am challenged to invent unique ways to use technique, color and elements
of design. In the process, my style of painting continually grows, which make me a better artist.
My work is primarily figurative with various subjects that appeal to me, from mythology, nature, or emotion. And, sometimes, I just like to make shiny things.
My work involves taking discarded metal objects (junk) and discovering new purposes for them. Instead of looking at an object for what it is, I look at what it could be.
This is the final installment in my series of paintings of marbles. I loved exploring the many ways of seeing them as the beautiful things they are as well as portraying them as objects that just happen to be marbles.
I think of my paintings as illustrations. I frequently am inspired by bits of overheard conversation, well worn cliches or an odd turn of phrase. My titles always come first. I enjoy taking the left brain words and making them a right brain visual. Bold, graphic and happy are my “style”.
