The paintings you see are about what and where I live. The beauty of the Sandhills of Nebraska. The scenes you see are places and images I have experienced, whether someplace on our ranch or traveling down the road. The subject matter is endless. One need not travel far to see the beauty at their feet.
I paint the earth, the skies and the streams I see all around me because they symbolize stability, rhythm and gentleness. I try to keep my paintings simple using big shapes and value contrast. Simplicity and solitude are at the heart of my work. I hope you see in my work the peace I feel as I take in the landscape.

While searching for new techniques to stimulate my photography students, I found a method of manipulating photographs in the computer such that I could mix reality and abstraction in interesting ways. The method enables me to present readily recognizable, everyday subjects with a new added dimension. The images are intended to be bright, colorful, and fun.
