A combination of gentle serenity to contrast bold activity, this is what I strive for. I achieve this by playing with different mediums, colors and an array of strokes. I welcome the unexpected – not only in my artwork – but in my life as well. The process of creation and exploration has just as much importance as the finished product itself. To paint emotion is what I ultimately desire – even if the result is wild or unpredicted. I want the viewer to not simply see but feel.
I remain blessed in so many ways, not least among them being the ability to work things out emotionally in the studio... Thus, the left hand works with the right, and what begins as automatic activity finds its own final form in these pictures done from a berserker perspective. These are the faces and undefined places of a new formal reality. Here are loneliness and connectedness both, and these images say better than I currently can what I must believe, that through darkness emerges light.
