Patsy Smith

From her studio in North Platte, Nebraska, Patsy Smith has become a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, placed work with a variety of galleries and won numerous regional awards. Her paintings hang in private collections throughout the U.S. and she has been in seven museum shows. Smith also teaches watercolor workshops around her home state.

"Whenever I paint, I call upon my childlike nature. I want a release from rules and constraints, as well as a way to express what's inside me. The final result is important, but what I enjoy most is the journey. Just as the prairie sky is in constant flux, each new painting teaches me that I, too am always changing. If I knew the way to a perfect painting, the pursuit wouldn't be necessary, the adventure would be lost, and there would be no need to paint."
