I
believe that anything relevant that any artist does is autobiographical
- it's impossible to create a piece without having it be a direct
reflection of the person constructing it. It doesn't matter
if it's a pott, painting, photo or conceptual piece; if the
artwork doesn't mirror the artist, it's not going to be valid
and stand on it's own.
That
is a basis of many of my potts. A lot of my pieces are done
as simple wheel thrown forms, some as thrown forms with a quirk
to the shift of the function, while some start as quirks and
progress from there. A select few of the pieces are just visions
that demand to be fulfilled.

Who the artist - or anyone, for that matter - is developing
into is a combination of what's inside as well as the host of
experiences collected on life's highway. Some pieces are portraying
a singular self-inspection of my psyche, some are my interpretations
of the situations of others, and some of those select visions
are just tourist snapshots of what goes through my brain sometimes
when I least expect it.
The
old saying that "life is not a destination, it is a journey
of importance" holds true for me. My pieces are reminders
of where I've been and glimpses of where I'm at and where I'm
going.
My
pieces are all fragmented views of my journey. Come travel with
me awhile.
